Avid MediaComposer Mojo SDI End of Life

January 17, 2012 Leave a comment

Avid has announced that Mojo SDI video hardware will no longer be sold after March 31, 2012 or until supplies last.  Avid will continue to support Mojo SDI until March 31, 2017 with valid MediaComposer and Pro Tools support packages.

We don’t see this to be a big deal since sales of Mojo SDI have fallen off a cliff since the introduction of MojoDX.  Additionally, since Mojo SDI can not handle HD, most of our clients are evaluating the AJA product line and BlackMagic line. For clients with Mojo SDI, we recommend upgrading to a new capture card when you move over to MediaComposer 6.x.

We recently hosted a MediaComposer 6.0, “The Good, The Bad and The Ugly” by Michael Kammes. Here’s the link: http://www.keycodemedia.com/Avid-Webinar/media-composer-6-webinar-recorded.html

Key Code Media will be providing a Vblog about the third party hardware cards over

Compatibility Notes:
Mojo SDI is only compatible with Media Composer 5.5 or NewsCutter 9.5 and versions below.  Media Composer 6, Symphony 6 and NewsCutter 10 are not compatible with Mojo SDI.

Pro Tools 10.1 and versions below do support Mojo SDI as a video I/O device.
