Avid Media Composer v5 is now shipping!

Avid is pleased to announce that Avid Media Composer v5, Avid Symphony v5 and Avid NewsCutter v9 are now shipping as of, June
10, 2010. Customers can purchase a new system or upgrade their existing editing software to these newly released products.
The wait is over! You’ve heard the buzz. You’ve read the blogs. The wait is finally over—the new releases are now shipping, so get ready to put the
features you asked for in play!
Upgrades

In addition, Avid Support customers and any customer that purchased Avid Media Composer v4.X, Avid Symphony v4.X or Avid NewsCutter v8.X from April 12, 2010 through June 10, 2010
will be eligible for a free upgrade of their editing software. Customers who purchased those versions during this window will be contacted with instructions on how to get the latest release free. For those who can’t wait:
-Support Customers can go to the download center and log into their accounts.

-Others may use store.avid.com or contact Key Code Media.

Here is an overview of some of the New Features:

-QuickTime AMA- Quickly take advantage of QuickTime files in their native codec format, including Apple ProRes, with QuickTime AMA you can also take advantage of the new Canon DSLR Cameras

-RED Camera Support- Using the AMA architecture users can link to and edit their R3D footage with enhanced color and histogram functionality

-RGB-Capture RGB 4:4:4 media via Dual Link SDI with Nitris DX and work natively in the RGB color space

-Stereo timeline tracks-Manipulating two channels of audio in a single stereo master clip simplifies editing while saving timeline real estate

-RTAS Audio Plug-In Support

-Anciliary Data- Now conforms to the SMPTE 436M specification enabling open interchange with 3rd Parties

UI Improvements- Enhanced user interaction model along with many updates to shortcuts and list selections that conform these actions to conventional OS standards

AVCHD- Import AVCHD, ACCAM and MXCAM footage and start editing

3rd Party Monitoring with Matrox MXO2 Mini- Expanding the openness strategy, Avid now offers support monitoring with this desktop device
